Enel is the first utility in the world to replace the traditional electromechanical meters with smart meters that make it possible to measure consumption in real-time and manage contractual relationships remotely. Today, over 34 million Italian retail customers are equipped with smart meters installed by Enel. Enel is further deploying an additional 13 million smart meters to its customer base in Spain. This innovative tool is key to the development of smart grids, smart cities, and electric mobility.
